Professional Codes of Ethics
Most professions have Codes of Ethics that members must follow to prevent exploitation of the public and to preserve the integrity of the profession. This is for the benefit of the public and for the benefit of those belonging to that profession. Disciplinary codes allow the profession to define standards of ethical conduct and ensure that practitioners meet this standard, by disciplining them if they do not practice accordingly. This allows those professionals who act conscientiously to practice in the knowledge that they will not be undermined by those who do not. It also maintains the public’s trust in the profession. In this section you can read more about ethics in EMPS.
